Consolation & Hope
The Ministry of Consolation and Hope reaches out to those families who have lost a loved one with a caring, loving presence and support. A week or so after the funeral, the family is contacted by phone to express different ways that we can journey with them through their grief.
The crisis one experiences in the loss of a loved one in death threatens one’s existence, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Grieving is a normal process of adjusting to loss. Though each one’s grief is unique, all who grieve share a common bond.
Characteristics include
Loneliness, fear, panic, anxiety, depression, anger, pain frustration, loss of energy.
We can journey with those who grieve in the following ways:
a visit to the home of the bereaved to offer consolation,
a telephone call to offer assurance of continued prayer and support,
offer reading resources to assist with the grief,
offer the services of a "support group",
invitation to an annual "Remembrance Mass" in November,
arrange for Professional Counselling,
